Anyone in the SF Bay Area? I recently got 2 kittens and now I have no choice but to sacrifice some of my plant babies (the ones that are toxic to pets, and must be indoors) in order to protect my furbabies 🥺 Idk if this is the right group to post this is in, but I just want my precious plants to go to a loving home so maybe someone here knows someone or can offer some advice. Some big ones are for sale and little ones are free. All potted in colorful ceramic/resin planters. Fiddle leaf fig, monstera, calla lily, peace lily, hedgehog aloe, cylinder snake plant etc. I also have a bunch of gardening supplies and stuff I no longer need. I could use some advice/guidance about cats vs. plants too! First time cat-person.

    Aw congrats on the new fur babies! Your post might get deleted. I think Planta is iffy about people trying to meet up with each other through this app. But Facebook might be a good place to post. I don’t live in SF but even my relatively rural area has a few Facebook groups dedicated to plant sales/trades/gifting. And there’s Facebook marketplace too. But I like the groups because you can kinda get to know the people a bit more As for tips, kittens will get into ANYTHING. My cat is 17 and she’s still a part-time trouble maker lol. She isn’t interested in chomping plants anymore, but I wouldn’t trust a cat under say… 10 not to get curious enough to nibble. So I think it’s a good plan to swap out the toxic plants. I also personally like to keep an eye on what plant products I use. If it has a warning label, I don’t trust it for indoor use near the cats. A lot of outdoor pest sprays are really popular in plant forums, but I think outdoor stuff should only be used outdoors. We just don’t have good enough ventilation in our houses and it’s too much close-contact in my opinion. Also fertilizer with fish in the ingredients might attract your cats to sip out of the plant trays or dig in the soil 😅 So be aware of that. Hope this helps! 😸
