Hi! I’m new here I have 4 cats, I have 3 plants in my moms room since they are toxic ( Aloe Vera, Flamingo Lily’s, and Leopard Lily’s) and she doesn’t allow the cats in her room without supervision. I only have catnip in the main areas of the house for them to enjoy, I’d love some recommendations on plants I can add to the main house big or small that are non toxic for the cats to be around. I’m still a beginner at owning and caring for plants so any tips would also be appreciated! Also thought I’d add some pics of my babies lol! Ps. black cat on floor = mom / black cat w tongue son😁

    Maybe a Hoya krimson queen? They’re forgiving and easy to look after. They’re also non toxic :)

    So many! Hoya, African violet and all other gesneriads (goldfish plant, lipstick plant, flame violet), all orchids, all palms except fishtail palm (caryota), peperomia, jasmine (not night-blooming jasmine!), and my favorite, false aralia (dizygotheca).

    I believe that all the “holiday cactuses” are (thanksgiving cactus, Christmas cactus, etc.); and they have really pretty flowers! Air plants are also nontoxic; and they are super fun and funky to look at!

      Yes! I have a Xmas cactus, so gorgeous and so easy, and definitely nontoxic.

    I second the Hoya recommendations! Plenty of types and all are pet safe. Another few that are super easy to care for and pet safe are cast iron plants and spider plants. I love my cast iron plant and is my go to for recommending to new plant parents/ pet parents since they’re super easy to take care of and tolerate low light. They come in several varieties. I have the Milky Way one. It can grow large and give a nice jungle vibe. If you’re going for small, Hoyas start small and some varieties take a while to grow.

    if you’re looking for a bigger plant, my cats personally love a parlor palm! they’re pet safe! my cats do love to bite the leaves and play with it but they leave my other plants alone so it’s a win win 🙌
