New to being a successful plant parent and it had been going so well. And then discovered a few of my plants (potentially more) have spider mites. In the past when I had plants and discovered them it was usually a death sentence. Thanks to this app I have more knowledge about how to treat a sick plant and proper light/care. But I’m feeling like a bit of a failure. I know that sounds silly which is why I’m making this post. Has anyone else experienced this? And did your plants survive? Also why is it always an Ivy plant?!

    Sooo i recently took over caring for my mother's plants and pretty much right away they got spider mites (from a new plant she'd just gotten). I think I've pretty much gotten them taken care of by now. I mixed up a spray of one part alcohol, three parts water, and a bit of dawn (i think pretty much any dish soap would work). Some people won't use rubbing alcohol on their plants because it can be hard in the leaves but I haven't had a problem before. You can do a spot test to make sure it won't bother them. Rubbing alcohol is supposed to kill most insects on contact. For the ones that I had actually confirmed had spider mites I sprayed every day or so for a little while. Every time I where'd they also got a shower. The ones that were close but hadn't gotten them yet got sprayed every few days or every wayering, along with their showers. I also watered with hydrogen peroxide ( I do 1:3 but some people dilute it even more) to kill any bugs or eggs in the soil. I hope this helps! Lastly, none of these were Ivies but plants that like to dry out all the way and don't have much humidity are more susceptible to lots of pests. Mealybugs thrips and spidermites all like dryness, so in the future misting can help deter them.

    Lemon and vinegar and a lot of water 💧 I have used it for the 🐜 🐜 🐜 🐜 🐜 🐜 and it has made a lot of them not even come back
