I am a complete newbie to anthurium and would love some advice from you guys. I just bought a pedatoradiatum (fingers) and clarinervium. What I can’t wrap my head around is what substrate to use for the pedatoradiatum. From the little research I have done, they grow on limestone in Mexico and don’t really like soil. So my initial thought was to use pon, but I’ve read that they don’t like their feet wet so having it in a self watering pot also sounds like it could be a bad idea. I also considered maybe buying Molly’s aroid mix, specifically for my anthuriums. I’ve also heard tree fern fiber is beneficial for anthurium, so I would consider getting that and mixing some of it with my super chunky mix. For the clarinervium, I’m not as concerned with the substrate choice. I’m thinking it would do well in a super chunky mix like Molly’s aroid mix. But does anyone have experience with theirs in pon? Also, I have seen a lot of people top their pots with sphagnum moss, but they don’t really explain why. Help me understand lol Overall though, if anyone has advice on substrates or any other advice on anthurium, I would greatly appreciate it!! *these photos are NOT mine, just using them as examples
