This is my first Anthuriam that I just got a week ago from the Mr. I’m unsure if the browning is normal due to adjustment for them, age, etc. She typically gets morning, east facing, bright light (rarely direct as I’m also new to TX) and than whatever she can soak up the rest of the day. She is still showing new growth coming in. She was watered 48 hours ago with 6 ice cubes per directions on the plant. 😅 Any suggestions or things I should watch out for? She also has yet to be named. Thank you in advance.

    hi! i’ve found the ice cube method quite unreliable.. some may like that method but i’d personally water normally.. anthuriums like evenly moist soil. especially depending on where u are in tx but the humidity is relatively low.. and very hot sun. i live in sw kansas so we understand here :)

      Thank you. I plan on using just water the next time. I’m in SE TX. For us we’re waking up to cold temps and by lunch it’s warm / hot, so we’ve had to go from heat to a/c inside making humidity difficult. Would a cleaned out diffuser work as a humidity source if I just used water in it?

      i think it would definitely help out the humidity! i like to mist my plants that like higher humidity as well.

    Idc what any plant care card says - don’t water with ice cubes. Rain 🌧️ does not happen in the form of ice cubes. Most houseplants are tropical plants that people brought indoors. What do you know about tropical places? — It’s always hot and humid. Putting ice on the soil or watering with very cold water can and will shock the root system and make your plant mad. The plant is adapted to warmth and humidity — give it that. Water fully and deeply then let it dry out a bit ‘til the top few inches of soil are dry then water deeply again. Err on the side of too dry. Anthuriums like to be evenly moist but will rebel if it gets swampy. Hope that helps. Ps. Put that care instruction card in the garbage and don’t look back
