Wanted to share a warning with our orchid community. Beware of visiting your local Costco. Out of nowhere, these beauties just JUMPED into my cart and came home with me. Ooooh nooooo. 😉 In all seriousness, they had tons of irresistible mini and standard phalaenopsis- all in really great health- no sign of pests or major damage, all no ID hybrids with really interesting colors and patterns. Tons of multiple spikes, lots of branches, and most with buds still closed, so I should be enjoying these blooms for weeks to come. Did I need a couple more mini phals? Absolutely not. Am I thrilled with them anyway, at 10 bucks each?!? YES.

I’ve inherited my sisters orchid after she (almost) killed it. Somebody told me it was crown rot. Are there any other opinions or ideas to save my poor plant?
Hi guys. I don’t know if you can get the full picture from this photo, but I repotted my Cattleya last night and this root ball was beyond anything I’ve ever experienced. It was like trying to get the most sensitive of roots out of a solid mass of concrete. No amount of soaking and gentle prodding and wiggling made any difference. It had only been in this pot for about a year and a half- I thought I was repotting early, but now I fear I was too late. I know I basically decimated these roots getting the medium off. After TWO HOURS, no joke, I ended up just cutting away a bunch of the damaged roots just to try to get to the ones that may only be slightly bruised. Good news is, there are THREE new pseudobulbs starting to grow- so I know new roots are on the way, I’m just worried that it won’t survive until then. I potted her in a big pot with more sphagnum moss this time, because clearly she’s a vigorous root grower, and I don’t want to set her back every time she fills up her pot. Sadly, she’s still such a young orchid that I’ve never seen her in bloom, so I’m worried I just set her WAY back. Ugh! Any advice?
Hi, I’m new here. I was hoping I can get some help. My tolumnia (Jairak Rainbow Pink Crystal) flower stem is yellowing. She had two lovely flowers and they dried off. Should cut off the stem?
Testing, testing, 1 2 3… Is this thing on? Hopefully the posting bug has been resolved 🤞 While I’m here, I picked up a delightful no ID phal the other day because I needed another plant. Loving the yellow and magenta markings.
Community not working rn lol
Trying to post a question and I’m getting a message saying this content isn’t allowed. Testing to see if the app will let me post this one… ETA: I have no experience with these. Plant health? Root health? Need a repot?
Meet J, Jr. I just received the plant after ordering online. Very impressed w/ quality. Unfortunately, I killed J, Sr. because I did not cover to allow roots to grow a bit as I received unpotted. In the past I have been very successful with the plants. (This is for my daughter fiancé who apparently has been sneakily taking pieces of leaves, etc. from me for years😊). I bought him (the real J) a blue Monet glazed A.V. Pot. (Apparently the flowers on this plant are blue. I see purple.) So, how and when do I transplant given this plant is 4” tall. (J’s birthday is end of March.) I did add a bit of water in tray yesterday. I do have orchid soil. Sorry so long and advise if I’m in wrong forum. Thank you so much!
Just got this orchid and I’m sure like many, I aspire to care for it until it reblooms. I’ve had several orchids and never managed to care for them properly - they’ve never rebloomed. So I’ll pin this and read through the threads, as well as any insight and care tips for a newbie. Hoping this time around will be the charm. Thanks lovelies 🌱🌸
Hello All, Just received a Paphiopedilum Parisienne Pink Lady slipper today to give to my mom. Need to repot and let it “settle” a bit before Easter or Mother’s Day. I’ve heard soil needs to stay moist (not wet or dry) and possibly a humidity tray. She lives in NH now but grew up in Maine where they were “wild”. She loves them. One leaf is folded - is this okay? Any additional suggestions? Thank you.
This little Haraella odorata lives in pretty bright light, very high humidity (60%+) and 70f. I spray to the whole thing or dunk it every other day and I feed it with half strength foliar orchid food once a week. My question is, why is this one root suddenly a different color. It doesn’t feel squishy so I don’t think it’s rotted but I pulled it out gently (it was just tucked under the other visible root, not attached to anything) and I am just overly concerned about it. I am almost sure the light is too much but it hasn’t showed any stress, honestly it hasn’t shown much of anything. I’ve had it almost a month. Thank you for taking a look! 🖤
Help me! I dropped my sweet mini orchid tonight and I don’t know what to do! Very new to anything orchid and I’m hoping I can learn what to do here
Hi! So i came very close to killing this poor guy, i got very busy and forgot to water him for 3 months but have recently watered and have been giving all the sunlight needed and i see green!! Now next step: should i cut off the main stem? it’s very dry and there’s no color in it anymore. Should i repot it with fresh orchid mix? Please let me know!! I want to survive Mr. Orcha!
Can’t wait for my miniature moth orchid to open its blooms and stop looking like it has horns 🤣
Hi this guy is about 6 years old. Recently he started regrowing roots after all of them being super dry. I was just curious what is the woody stem? Recently I got the advice to try water culture to revive it, I was curious if I should cut this off or leave it?
Okay, I dived into the vanda pool. Mr Pi and I were out running weekend errands. Of course at the last store, there they were. Vandas. Not in great shape but too lovely to resist. Especially with a persuasive man whispering in met ear to get them. The pink one is a Vanda Boonserm Beauty. The other is a no ID but gorgeous! Now I’ve just got to finally a place to keep them. Wish me luck
What is this sproutlet thing coming out of the crown?? Is it a root or new flower spike even though I already have a flower spike.
Hi :) I try to understand the difference between all these many fertilizers and their ratios and I am completely lost… The higher the better… the lower the better… any specific number the better?! Amazon has so many options for orchids and it is difficult to choose one. Thank you for any recommendations:)
HELP I found two types of bugs on my orchid. These really small white bugs that crawl on the leaves of my orchid. They don’t seem to jump when startled so..not spring tails. My camera can’t focus on the leaf and the bugs are so small you can hardly see them unless you focus a lot. They like to crawl on the sides of the leaves and are moderately fast. I’ve also seen these slightly bigger orangish bugs mainly I see them crawling along the sides of the pot and escaping into the crack of the drainage tray presumably to get back into the soil. I caught a picture of one just before it went into the crack (it’s the little dot RIGHT above the crack about to crawl in to the right) Sorry for the bad quality bc again, my photo quality isn’t the best. What do I do?
I’m getting so excited. It’s been trying to bloom since winter but I wasn’t letting it because I had just reported it after root rot
