Update: IT HAPPENED!!!!!!! Lady slippers opened and I canât stop staring đđ„°đđ
CAN SOMEONE HELP?! When I got this guy he had these wrinkled, leathery, dark leaves and hardly any roots. Since Iâve been caring for him (I repotted in a smaller pot due to the no roots) heâs grown more roots and two new leaves, but they have remained folded?! Also moved into more light for the dark leaf colour but now thereâs maybe some yellowing and this dimpled appearance just happened practically overnight! What do I do???
Finally, they have begun to pop. This is one of the first flowers to open on an oncidium sphacelatum, native to Mexico and Central America. Sometime called a dancing lady orchid. A lovely orchid with long sprays of lots of small lemon yellow and rust blooms. No scent but dazzling to the eye. Blooms open in quick succession and last about a month. Iâll post another photo once theyâve all opened. I think the oncidium alliance is my favorite group. Lots of variation in the flower form and color, and the plant is interesting looking when not in bloom. Back in my college days, this was the first type of orchid I branched into after I successfully got my phalanopsis to bloom (phals are great confidence boosters đ). I found this one in a box store. I have to admit I prefer hybrids to species, simply because they are more forgiving. Doesnât look like I will have as many blooms this year but no bother. One flower is as beautiful as a hundred. Hooray for oncidiums! đŻââïžđŻââïžđŻââïž

Lady slippers orchid blooming for the first time!
Can any of yâall tell me what that new branch is on my orchid? (First photo) It appeared a few days ago, but didnât pay much attention to it!đ Sheâs a miniature moth orchid. And I got her a little over four months ago. I donât know if she is healthy or not if you could tell me anything that you think might be wrong I would love that! Thank you! đ
Eeeeeeeeeee!!!! They are starting to open! So excited đŻââïžđŻââïžđŻââïž
Hey guys! I have a couple questions for yâall, so my mom has a orchid that has no flower for almost a year. Iâm hoping she will get a spike as it gets cold. Oh and is it true that you shouldnât repot while they are flowering? ( photo is for attention )
How often do orchids bloom? I bought two when they were in bloom and pruned back the stems after they wilted. Iâve read multiple sources that say if you do this, theyâll bloom six weeks later again. So far, no joy. Is this a fairy tale? đ€
My first Orchid-wish me luck!
I just got my first orchid.. it came in this ceramic planter not very big and no drainage holes, there is also this root coming out of the pot. Should I replant it now?
Hello all!! âșïž I received my first ever orchid today! (Plant #13) any tips and tricks are welcome đ€ thank you in advance
Have you had white spots on your orchidâs leaves?
Happy Sunday all.. question for you⊠Would anyone know why my stems are turning yellow?
Hi! Can anyone tell me an orchid-safe way to lower the pH of their soil (bark-based)? Iâve discovered that itâs currently too alkaline!
Hi! I have a dead looking orchid. Can someone confirm before I replace it đ. Iâve heard they go in and out of bloom, but the stem on this one is totally dead.
Do yâall repot your new orchids after some of the blooms have fallen or wait until all of them have? I lost a few blooms in the week or two right after I got my new plant Iâm pretty sure that due to stress from moving but they have been fine since. Iâve seen several videos where people repot with blooms at several different states with the flowers dropping so I wanted to ask. As far as I can tell the rest of the plant is fine and I havenât lost any blooms since those first few over two months ago.
I rescued this poor thing from the Loweâs clearance section last night. I took it out of the moss and found that all the roots were dried up and had root rot. I cleaned it, sprayed it with peroxide, and used a pesticide. I repotted it. Hopefully, I can nurse it back to health!
First time posting here as I need some help to understand what is happing to my orchid. It started with chalky blotches on leaves and now yellowing and brown spots. Any idea on how I can restore it to health?
This post is for my orchid friends waiting on those SPIKES!!! This is what you are looking for when looking for new flower spikes. I have two right above the bottom leaves. Hope this helps.
