Hi!! Got this orchid on my birthday (March 21, 2025) and she was doing well. I repotted her with orchid bark about 2 weeks ago. She started looking her blooms recently. I mist her everyday and she gets natural and some grow light. Bellow is what she looked like a week ago vs today. Any tips and suggestions are appreciated!!

Let me tell you a story about a mysterious orchid that refuses to die no matter how much I neglect her. I donât mean to leave her high and dry but my ignorance canât be blamed anymore. How do I make this resilient being happier and back to blooming again? Seriously, is an orchid pot necessary? How does a plant lover repot an orchid in The Orchid Oasis?

I think Iâve made a mistake I cut the spikes all the way to the base on this orchid. Iâm just now finding out itâs only some orchids you can do this with. I did it while it was green because it had root rot and I wanted it to focus on the roots and leaves. Will my orchid ever regrow flowers?

She sad, what do I do? She was doing so well! This is my first orchid, only a little over a month of care. I planned on using a larger pot. I also have her at my desk at work.

I didn't want to take on an orchid because I never had luck with them in the past as in decades ago, but my son got me one for my birthday and it's gorgeous I'm just afraid of killing it, it's planted in Moss and he told me that they suggested that he pour water in it for 20 minutes and then dump the water out once every two weeks or some crap IDK also any idea what kind it is đ€·ââïž đđ€·ââïž I have it in the sunroom where the humidity is in the 70s and the temps are typically somewhere between67° to 75° depending on the weather outside . I have it in a south facing window with a sheer curtain

Should I wait until the bloom spikes of my oncidium dry up and brown before cutting them off after the flowers have dropped? Or is it OK to cut them off while green? Also what fertilizer should I use to encourage new growth? I currently using a balanced fertilizer that I greatly dilute and water weekly. Should I use something with high nitrogen?

I have a habit of taking in friendâs gifted phals when the flowers die b/c I donât have the heart to let them throw it out (they are not plant people). At times it feels like I am taking in too many strays, but I do love the surprise of never knowing what the flowers will look like. Came home from a long weekend to this bloomed beauty!

I love seeing people share their first orchids on here, so I wanted to show you all my first successful orchid and hope itâs encouraging! I got this one in October 2024 on clearance and it was clearly at the end of its bloom cycle, so I felt okay to experiment. The first photo is from November 2024. It had stopped blooming a few weeks before, so I cut the stem above a node, waited a few weeks, and vowed to cut it all the way down if I didnât see growth by the next day. To my surprise, I woke up to new growth! That spike grew through January/February and seeing the buds forming was so exciting. Mid-February, I saw a new 6-inch spike peeking through the leaves! I watch this thing like a hawk and never noticed another spike forming. March, she started opening her blooms, and now that itâs May, she only has a few buds left to open on the brand new spike. She is so HEAVY, her first spike is dropping, and the pot fell over while watering yesterday, but everything is okay. Wanted to share because sometimes orchids can be intimidating, but this plant has been so rewarding and the care is so simple, I love to see that so many people are learning to care for them. Since this orchid, Iâve purchased a few more and everyone Iâve met in the orchid community is kind and helpful. Itâs so inspiring to see the love and respect they have for this beautiful plant. Anyway, Iâd love to see your favorites!

Hello everyone! Iâve had these two orchids for probably almost 3 years now. They have been doing great over the past few years but now something is going on and Iâm not sure what to do. They both have drainage and were repotted last summer. I only ever water them when the app says to and have given them orchid plant food once in a while. Please help đ„°

This is my sad sad orchid. Iâve kept her alive for 3 years now and has rebloomed twice. I noticed one of the bottom leaves turning yellow and I panicked. Took her out of her medium and it didnât look good. I immediately removed the medium and trimmed dead roots. I threw her in some water to rehydrate some of the silvery roots. Where should I go from here? More orchid bark? Moss? Her spike is still viable, I can see a tiny keiki at the top of the spike so I know sheâs not dead dead yet.

Iâve never been one to have Orchids. ButâŠ. I went to a local plant store the other day and saw these Orchids I had never seen before and I knew I had to have them. I had been on the search mainly for cute pots and extras to start repotting some plants and hoping to make a live moss Kokedama., but I did however saw that they had premade kokedama w/ preserved moss. So I bought a few Orchids too âșïž and when I got home I got to work! Haha

Hi guys! I notices something in the clear pot of my phaelenopsis today, and I'm wondering if anyone could ID it here. Is this a new root shooting out of the old one, or is this something to worry about? I'm specifically surprised by the white umbrella looking thing. Thanks!
