hi everyone! i’ve had this orchid for over a year and i noticed its buds started wilting until the stem dried up. i thought id check to see how the roots were and they’re all dead. any advice is helpful this orchid is literally my life

On the left there, you can see a new pseudo bulb on my cymbidium. On the right…is that a bloom spike? It looks a little pointy for a bloom spike but it’s not variegated and the variegation on new pseudobulbs is visible immediately and they come up more bowed and not straight like this.

Hi everyone. I am having an issue with fungus gnats which I think originated in 2 dormant orchid plants. I’m currently going the route of letting the plants dry out but don’t want to damage the plants. I have sticky strips in the pots which are catching lots of the little annoyances! Any thoughts on any other effective solutions I can try to rid my plants and home of these little pests would be gratefully received.

Hi everyone, this is my first orchid. I noticed these flowers were wilting and the app said it’s most likely due to low light. I moved it to a brighter area but i’m wondering if i should prune these wilting flowers? Do I need to do anything?

I think I’m getting another new flower spike on my second orchid! 🤞🏻🥳🤞🏻 I’ve been putting her outside in the cooler temps for a few hours each day like Jen suggested and it think it’s finally working!

New orchid bloom. Bulbophyllum “Madeline Nelson”

Loved Anastasiia’s post below showing her Oncidium Twinkle, and decided to share mine as well. I hesitate because this is her first blooming and I wasn’t really sure what to expect from it. It’s a ‘Gold’ 4N x sotoanum ‘Roy’, and looks like tiny little popcorn kernels. I don’t know if you can see from the second photo, but she has FIVE flower spikes. I am betting that the buds just won’t developed on some of them, but I’m fine with that. I am looking forward to future spectacular bloom shows when it’s a little older and stronger.

This may be my all time favorite orchid. The contrast of the white petals to the sunny orange lip, the perfect tiny purple freckles, the shape and proportions of the flowers. I can’t get enough. Pretty reliable bloomer too. Sigh. She’s dreamy.

Hi guys! I have just (literally twenty minutes ago) found an abandoned orchid outside my local convenience store (BIZARRE I KNOW). The lady behind the counter had no idea how it got there but said I could take it home with me. Anyway, I didn’t take a before photo (in his pot) but to cut a long story short (I apologise) his three stems were dead to the core so I picked them off) and his root system was all over the place. This is the before, and after. I can see however new green growth. Is it possible the flower stems can grow back? I only have one other orchid, and am not a seasoned pro by ANY means. Would be grateful for any tips. He has fresh orchid potting mix and I have washed him in orchid growth liquid and water. Just for reference he was absolutely bone dry outside the shop.

i got this as a gift! please help me keep her new growth alive!!!!

First bloom! 😇 They’re supposed to be white…so I’m assuming the plant was mislabeled. But hey, I won’t complain. Flowers are flowers!

I think it’s finally happening! After managing to kill many orchids over the years, I do believe this one is pushing out new flower spikes!

Paphiopedilum bellatulum- been in bloom about a week. All my paphs are so slow growing, sometimes frustrating in their quirks, but always always always worth it in the end.

Orchid Soil What is your favorite material/soil to use vs for your orchids. Is there a better mix…do you use different mixes for different plants…do you like small bark over large mix bark…etc. I would like to try to create my own blend and am looking for advice. I have a Jewel Orchid, Ground Or chid and others…excited to hear your ideas and experiences.

Hello hello! I received a miniature orchid last summer. It was blooming when I received it and I’ve taken care of it ever since. It’s sprouted 3 new leaves in the time I’ve had it but it hasn’t grown a flower spike since :( Should I be concerned or can it take them multiple years to bloom again? I am in SoCal if that makes a difference. Thank you!

Will this lil guy survive? Rookie mistake of not repotting as soon as it came home.
