My moth orchid always seems to struggle having more than three leaves, the roots are also hard to decent between green or brown or silver.. and one of the leaves is starting to shrivel and wilt. I repotted and cut off a bunch of dead roots but the condition doesn’t seem to be improving, even after two weeks. Any tips or advice? Thanks!

You can try what I finally did with my phalaenopsis orchids and simply remove them from potting medium altogether. I just use large glass vases and fill the bottom with media and keep it wet to allow for increased humidity for evaporation and just let the plants live on top of it. I mist the roots daily and plop them in a fertilizer bath every other week. I no longer worry about mushy or dried out roots as I can see them all.

This is my “set up”. Tall vase and media in the vase. Water is filled to about an inch below the top of the medium so that the roots don’t stay wet. You can see water blisters on the lowest leaf as he was getting too much water when he was in the orchid bark. Three years later he blooms regularly and his new leaves are no longer blistering.

Totally trying this! I have a problem with hitting the Lowe’s clearance rack a little too frequently and rescuing all of the sad orchids 🙃😅
