I can’t get this thing to bloom again. It’s been over a year. Nothing. I trimmed it. Fertilized. Nothing. Thoughts?

    What kind of light is it getting/have you tried changing the light? I (unknowingly) kept mine too dark and she didn’t bloom for close to 6 years. Then I moved her to a better lighting situation (closer to a window) and she bloomed! She now lives directly in an eastern window and blooms yearly.

    Does it that type of orchid need a temperature change (cool period) or a dry period or a different type of fertilizer to facilitate blooming? Just wondering about other factors that affect blooming, in addition to the amount of light.

    Typically they need a cool period and no fertilizer when attempting to force bloom. Can also trim the tips of the roots to encourage a force bloom. Is it getting enough water and air? I only see one air root poking out and the moss looks dry-ish. Also I would look at the root size vs that pot… they need space to breathe

      I ordered a kit to make a Kokedama. It tends to mold easy so I’m not thinking watering is the issue. It seems like it gets too much to me.

      Have you cleaned the root system with a good peroxide solution? That and cinnamon can help control mold growth and kill the existing spores. If it’s growing it’s bc the spores are already present

    So many factors… humidity. (Naturally they water themselves by absorbing the moisture of their environment etc). Potting culture, light and temp and are there drafts or pests.

    I ordered a Kokedama kit to repot it. I’m thinking maybe if I do this as a last ditch effort it might help. Thoughts as to anyone who’s tried that?

    I’ve kokedama a fern before but not an orchid. I had it now for 5 years and it’s OK. It does need to be watered more often because it dries out faster

      Maybe that’s a plus for me then. We have a lot of humidity here.
