Spot(s) on orchids? I always thought maybe it was just a sunburn but I want to make sure in case I’m wrong. - Orchid with multiple round dots is an Enc. Nursery Rhyme hybrid - Orchid with one giant spot is a Mps. Renee Komada Any ideas what it could be?
These are two very different conditions. The second looks like a sunburn mark. Watch it for signs of active infection. The yellow ring is not a great sign but if it stays that size you’re probably fine. Any spreading or growing discoloration and I would cut that leaf. I’m sorry to say that I think the first picture may show signs of a virused orchid. if it was just the black spots, it could be a little bacterial infection or a little fungal infection. But because you have the yellowing in separate spots, It looks similar to the photos I will attach. Do a little more research, because I don’t have a ton of experience with viruses. But I would err on the side of caution, meaning clean your tools thoroughly especially if you cut anything on this orchid, and do not share water between this plant and others.
