I bought a pansy orchid last March and it is beautiful. See pix in her glory stage. I over watered her and of course it rotted. I had 3 sets of leaves left. I took her out of the pot and cut off the bad parts then let her dry for 1 days. I put her back in a pot in bark chips. This week I threw away the large stock. The other two sets do not have any roots and is not rotted. Ideas?
I love Miltonia! These guys want lots of water. That can be tough to balance with getting the roots to the almost dry before watering again. They have finer roots so I think your bark chips are too course. Fine bark works well if you can find it. If not, mix in some sphagnum. If it were my plant I would go use 50% bark and 50% sphagnum. Top dress with about a 1/2” of sphagnum. The goal is to keep moisture close to the plant while it develops new roots.
