Hey guys! I thought my orchid was going to bloom after two years of having it but a week after I saw these buds, they disappeared and the branch just got longer. Any advice on how to help this guy out? I’m tempted to cut back the tall stem with no branch. There are a few new roots/stems that are growing so this guy seems happy, but I’m just a little worried since the main leaves are droopy but they are kinda old so it may just be their time to go. I know this guy looks kinda crazy but it’s bc I took its poles out and let him run free. Also i know the roots are silvery right now so I just water it!

    The leaves look dehydrated possibly, they normally are quite sturdy and relatively free of wrinkles. This could be due to underwatering or root loss from overwatering though

      I’ve been watering it based on what the app has told me but I’ll wait for the roots to look more silvery next time I water it, Thank you!

      I would check on the plant’s root system, it will provide you with a clearer and more definitive answer. Planta’s watering can vary based on humidity and temperature in your area, so I tend not to use it was a strict guideline

    I would also cut the flower spike with no buds- it’s just sapping energy from an already depleted/dehydrated orchid. Don’t go by the planta app for watering- let the roots lead you.

    Have you fertilized? I will fertilize after every second or third watering. This is what I use.

      I recommend the liquid orchid fertilizer from the Leaves and Soul store on Amazon. It’s giving me amazing results with just a tiny amount in water. I submerge the roots in lukewarm water once a week and once a month with fertilizer.
