My Bella has a yellow leaf. Not sure why. I snoozed the water schedule last week. Any ideas?

    It could be too little light. Dendrobiums like a lot of light. Or it could be that your plant is shedding leaves on that cane. You have a den nobile. They are deciduous and will shed leaves after a time. If that is the case, leave the cane. It will continue to support the rest of your plant. I will say it’s odd that it’s happening in the middle of the cane. But not too odd. Mine will drop a leaf every now and then. I don’t worry if the canes are firm and have good color. It could be water issue. Checking the roots will give you a good idea of what’s going on.

      Now I have two more yellow leaves. Do I cut them off or leave them? I moved Bella into the light more. Lost about my plant.

      It could be dropping leaves. They don’t stay on the plant forever. However, the cane is looking more wrinkled than in the previous photo. Typically the cane will remain plump even after dropping leaves. When was the last time you watered it? How do the roots look. What is the state of the newer canes?

      I have a water schedule and the new canes are healthy.

      Then I think your next step is to take a look at the roots. You want them to be white and firm. If they are brownish or look papery then they are dead. A couple of dead roots are fine. If the roots look healthy overall, then I think it is safe to assume dropping leaves are part of its natural cycle. Leave the cane if it is firm. Your plant will use it to support the newer growth. A little unasked for advice - be cautious about holding your plant to a watering schedule. Changes in lighting, temperature and humidity can affect how much water your plant uses. With Dendrobiums in general, it is important to let those roots dry out a little before the next drink. And nobiles in particular need a winter rest to stimulate blooming. Good luck!
