Help! A coworker put those orchid in my office to help it but it is getting worse. I don't know anything about orchids. It sits near a humidifier and is about 6ft from a south facing window. I know she told me it was recently repotted but I don't know the soil type used. I follow Plantas watering suggestions. Is this able to be saved?

Can you give me your watering and fertilizer schedule? And I don’t think that soil is good. It looks to moist. Orchids actually grow on trees so they don’t like soil. I suggest putting it in a specific orchid bark mix

It looks like Planta suggests every 14 days. The top of the soil is a little moist right now because I sprayed some neem oil just to try

That leaf looks healthy! A friend of mine used to have a family orchid farm and she always advised I have my orchids in bark mix and then the water basin watering method. She told me to use that method when I see the bark is completely dry. Hope this helps!

PS if you switch to orchid bark mix, many of them already have fertilizer in there so don’t double fertilize if that’s the case!

Ok thank you so much! I'll get it some new mix.

I wouldn’t recommend using planta’s watering schedule. Your environment, your medium, and your type of orchid may be very different than mine. Water when the medium completely dries and the roots look silvery. When you water they will be much greener. In your home that could be once a week or every 3 days. If you are repotting in to orchid bark, I’d recommend getting a clear plastic orchid pot, with tons of ventilation slits. You can keep a better eye on the roots, and the access to air helps prevent root rot.

Ah I wondered how I would know the root color until I finished reading your comment 🤪. I'll switch the pot as well.
