Is this a flower spike coming in? Or is it just an aerial root. It looks different than other aerial roots that’s why I’m asking. This is my first orchid and I’ve only had it about 2 months, I got it at plant con in Dallas.

    Most likely a root. The main difference is that a flower spike has a "mitten-shaped" or two-pointed tip and emerges from between the leaves, while a root has a rounded, single-point tip and can emerge from almost any part of the plant. Flower spikes are typically a darker, opaque green, and often have nodes along their length, while roots are generally shinier, with a silvery-gray appearance when dry and a bright green when wet.
