How can I help these roots? Should I cut them off? I don't want to kill this beauty.

Never cut a root unless it’s papery and insubstantial or mushy. Those are dead roots. These look plump and firm, but struggling. My concern would be your potting mix. It doesn’t look like a chunk orchid bark- it looks too dark and dense and more like a potting SOIL, which will suffocate and kill your roots.
4 likesI was given this from my grandma and it was in a nursing pot with the roots fully grown and no soil at all or water so I'm hoping it will recover but thank you for the advice on the soil I'll have to get the right one.
0 likesagree that this is not a good growing medium for a phal — these are epiphytic meaning they grow on other plants and things in nooks and crannies so soil is a major no-no like Jen said. You need orchid bark, or sphagnum moss, or a mix of both depending on your watering habits
