This is my sad sad orchid. I’ve kept her alive for 3 years now and has rebloomed twice. I noticed one of the bottom leaves turning yellow and I panicked. Took her out of her medium and it didn’t look good. I immediately removed the medium and trimmed dead roots. I threw her in some water to rehydrate some of the silvery roots. Where should I go from here? More orchid bark? Moss? Her spike is still viable, I can see a tiny keiki at the top of the spike so I know she’s not dead dead yet.
I’m no expert but I would repot with bark and styrofoam. You can clip off the dead roots and stems, so the plant can put all his energy towards recovering. I would watch a bunch of YouTube videos if I were in your situation.

0개 좋아요It’s totally normal for a bottom leaf to turn yellow and wither off. It was probably time for a repot since you’ve had it for 3 years- just repot into bark or bark/moss mix, and care for it as you’ve been. It doesn’t look dehydrated- I’d take it out of standing water to prevent any additional issues since you’ve cut away the dead roots.
2개 좋아요She’s drying out. She has some healthy looking silver roots that are now green from the soak. I’ll be repotting today.
