I purchased these two orchids at a discount for rescue. I decided to plant them on a piece of driftwood to simulate their natural environment. I'm hoping to help them grow and flower. Any recommendations? Have you tried it before?

I haven’t grown mine mounted because of the commitment of constant watering it would take in my environment. I just don’t have the time to spray the roots every day. It looks like you actually have 3 plants in this photo, one not doing so hot on the right? You could try to gently remove some of the old dried dead leaf remains from the base of the stem- it would make it easier for new roots to come through if it attempts to grow new ones.
3 LikesThe one in the front on the left is showing some signs of dehydration- see the wrinkles on the lower leaf? It’s slightly leathery and could use more hydration. It may be because the roots aren’t doing so well…
2 LikesThere’s a nice new root circled in purple, but the red area looks desiccated, and mostly dead. I’d increase the water you’re giving these plants. Whether you’re misting- or soaking the entire set up- do it more often. If the roots remain papery and tan, don’t plump up and turn green, they are dead and you can cut them away.
