Does anyone know why this flower is so much darker and larger than the rest of them? It was the last to bloom, opening at least a month after the rest of them. The plant itself seems healthy with firm and growing roots and leaves.

Couple thoughts: Some blooms have this tendency, and the color of the flowers just fade over time. Because this last bud opened a month later, to your eye it seems considerably darker, but will probably mellow to the softer color in the weeks to follow. Maybe, because it had way more time to develop, the plant gave this bud more energy over the past month to put into its natural characteristics. It could be that factors in the environment or your care differed enough in that time frame to cause it- a month later in the year could mean higher temps, which can definitely affect the color of blooms in some hybrids. Maybe it received higher light or more fertilizer in that month- not something I’ve seen to cause this, but these crosses are so variable, it’s possible.

Thanks for the info!! I bought this orchid about 2 months ago when it had all flowers aside from the dark flower bloomed. It then grew another branch, 3 stems in total blooming, and even grew more roots. So yeah I don't know what care it had before I bought it, but I'm definitely not complaining! This is the first orchid Ive had that's grown so much so quickly

It’s lovely! The change could absolutely be the change of environment over the course of the last couple months. They are such variable creatures, and these type of phalaenopsis have been so cross bred, that they are all so very different- which makes them endlessly interesting.
