Hello! can anyone give me advice on how to get my orchid to bloom again ? :,) i’ve had her well over a year now, after her blooms fell august in 2022, her stem also died and literally detached from the base. she shows no signs of regrowing a stem though, but she’s grown a few leaves since then so i know she’s healthy. please give me tips to get her to rebloom 🙏

My only tip is patience…. Not fun, I know. As long as its still healthy, just keep doing what you’re doing and it will produce a new spike when its ready.

Cut back any brown dead parts, and make sure she has plenty of light. Mine is in front of a window. After a few accidents where I knocked off a new spike, she’s finally blooming again after a year. It’s a long waiting game of patience but she’ll get there!

When mine had that problem I took her out of the pot and looked at her roots, and they were healthy and growing well so I just put her back in new bark and gave her some orchid fertilizer, now about 2 years later she’s still going strong! 💗🌿🎀 (Take this with a grain of salt though I’m not an orchid expert haha)

Typically phals bloom annually. So, if it’s being bashful, light is probably at the heart of the problem, at least in my experience. Give it bright, indirect light. If the edges of the leaves turn red, that means it’s getting the max amount of light it can safely tolerate. Species phals and simple hybrids sometime require a 10deg drop in temp to stimulate blooming. But most phals available in grocery stores and box stores are complex hybrids where that trait has been bread out. Still, it doesn’t hurt trying if you’re having problems with blooms. If you haven’t repotted the plant yet, I would follow Cheshire’s advice. Most orchids should be repotted every two or three years, or when the media begins to degrade and hold on to more water. The roots need an environment where they can take up moisture and the dry out quickly. Good luck!
