Looking for advice on my orchid’s new flower spike! This one has finally started growing a flower spike. However, it is bending severely (naturally, toward the window). I have some clips and a stake that I could use to gently coerce it upright. Any tips for how I might do this? Would it be possible to redirect the spike behind this leaf, like I’ve shown in the photo? Thanks!!

You can absolutely train a new flower spike! It won’t necessarily bend back as dramatically and grow exactly as straight as your red lines, but yes. I would recommend going to YouTube and go to miss orchid girl’s page. She has several videos about training phalaenopsis flower spikes with great tips and in detail. Just search training flower spikes on her page, you’ll get great instructions. I could try to explain it, but I feel like actually SEEING it might be more helpful for this.

Hi Jen, thanks for the advice! I had forgotten about that YouTube channel. I’ll take a look!
