On the left there, you can see a new pseudo bulb on my cymbidium. On the right…is that a bloom spike? It looks a little pointy for a bloom spike but it’s not variegated and the variegation on new pseudobulbs is visible immediately and they come up more bowed and not straight like this.
Sometimes variegation is unstable. Maybe it’s new growth that reverted?
1 j'aime Possible! If that were true, I guess I’d want to remove it before it takes over the plant?
0 J'aime That tracks with typical variegation logic. If it were mine, I would try to separate and start another plant. Could take years for it to bloom but it would be interesting to see if the flowers differ from the mother plant.
