My orchid started growing all these new roots above the soil roughly 2-3 weeks ago (and one new shoot). I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad sign since in my mind more roots means it’s looking for water? I thought it was doing well since two new leaves grew just last month. Does it need repotting again maybe? For context, I’ve had this plant since February 2024, I last repotted it this past February to a pot just two inches bigger, but it was my first attempt so maybe I didn’t do it correctly. Any opinions?

    Actually, orchids want to be rootbound. I only repot when the pot is hard to bend/the roots are pressuring the sides of the pot. Roots on the top are normal, too!

    Areal roots are very common, remember orchids in nature like to grow on the sides of trees, so they do like some exposed roots. Also, they focus on root production in the warmer months, so being summer this is not surprising.
