    Nope, not necessary at all! Misting only temporarily increases humidity for a few minutes. If you have a moth orchid, it should do fine with whatever humidity you have indoors. If you really want to give it more humidity, a humidifier is your best best.

    I agree with the other commenter, though I would add that sometimes it’s just fun to take care of your plants so If it makes you happy and isn’t harming the plant it can still be fun!

    For MOST standard orchid types, it’s not necessary. It also depends on your environment- misting in an already humid environment can cause issues like botrytis, little fungal spots, on otherwise perfect flowers. Heavy misting that doesn’t evaporate can also cause water to pool in the leaf joints and crown, risking bacterial accumulations that lead to stem and crown rot. So in my opinion, the small benefits just don’t outweigh the huge risks.
