MeasomerPiI prefer Repotme’s MSU fertilizer but it’s a little pricy. I have had good results with Espoma’s orchid fertilizer. It’s less expensive and available at my local box store. Right now I am using regular ol’ Miracle Grow because my husband buys in bulk. It’s doing the job just fine. I think for the typical hobbiest (those of us who grow orchids in our home and don’t enter competitions) the type of fertilize isn’t so important. What really matters is not over fertilizing. That can cause root burn quicker than you’d think. Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. Or, if you feel comfortable, you can try the weakly weekly method. That’s my preference. Right now I use 1/8 strength every time I water. And once a month I flush the pot with pure water to wash away accumulated salts. Just as an FYI - typically fertilize doesn’t have anything to do with root rot. It’s caused when the roots stay too wet. If you are having issues with root rot instead of root burn, check your media. It might be time for a refresh. You can add ventilation holes to your pot to help get some air to those roots. Or cut back on the frequency of watering. Good luck!

I’ve been trying this brand recently on my Paph, but have used Jack’s all purpose for many years on my oncidium twinkle and it seems to be happy. I also do the weakly weekly and flush

ElliottI use Schultz orchid liquid fertilizer. Lots of my plants have done an insane amount of vegetative growth, but my guess is that’s a mix of fertilizer and the way I trim them between repots.
