Hi all This is my moth orchid which I have had for a number of years now. This is the healthiest I have ever seen it, it was looking rather sorry for itself last year but after some adjusts it’s produced its largest amount of flowers ever! As you can see from the pic below a number of new roots are outside of the pot. In the pot is orchid bark only. Should I repot it so that all roots are inside the pot? Or leave as? I read recently that when the roots turn ashy looking they need watering so I just dunked it in a bucket. There’s only a few healthy roots in the bark now. It sits in my kitchen in a south west window. Thank you Sarah

    I would repot into an orchid pot. Gives its some space for roots to get some fresh air yet stay contained.

    you could honestly leave as is and just give it a support 🤷‍♂️ orchids naturally climb trees and they're "air plants" or epiphytes, they don't need a growing medium at all as long as you can keep them watered. yours looks really happy as is.

    In my growing conditions, it's hard to keep aerial roots hydrated, so I'd repot and encourage them to be in the media. It can always make new aerials if it wants more air
