So I just realized that my orchid is suffering from root rot 😅 It was hard to notice because all the affected roots were covered by the new healthy growing roots. I chopped off a sozable amount of rotting roots and I was wondering: What should I do before repotting her? I watered her yesterday and I know when I take her out of her pot I have to cut every single affected root off but I could’ve sworn there was something else I had to do like sanitize the plant or something? I’m not sure

      I think that was it. Wait do I have to spray all the roots or only the ones with root rot?

      You can spray any affected area, avoiding the axis of the plant and crown- so any leaves and where they meet at the base of the plant. Tip while you’re repotting- one of the possible causes of root rot is too much moisture around the roots. From the looks of the picture it doesn’t seem like you’re using one of those clear plastic pots with ventilation holes. Not only do they serve the purpose of allowing more drainage and aeration of the roots, but it is an easier way for you to see what’s going on under the top layer of bark. So you might notice when things start to go wonky a little sooner next time. Good luck with this little guy, it looks like a very healthy orchid otherwise. ❤️

      Yeah I also think mainly it’s bc…you know…it doesn’t have drainage holes :p but hmm I’ve never heard of ventilation hole pots before. I’ll have to look into that

      Just an example. I find these to be great quality, but you can find them all over. I’d go for the clear ones so you can pull it out of the decorative pot to water and keep an eye on the roots. Good luck!

    I think it’s all of them, but I’m a total beginner. I just did mine after watching a bunch of YouTube vids.
