Hello all, I got her a month ago. Is there anything I need to do now after the blooms dry?

    If the spike goes brown/dead cut it off. Otherwise, remove the flowers (they’ll easily fall off into your hand when its ready) and continue to care as usual. It will either put out new growth off the spike, or grow a completely new one. But it can take time.

    There are 2 schools of thought post blooming- if you want to try for a secondary flush of blooms, you can cut the flower spikes back to about a 1/2 an inch above the last growth node before the blooms began. It’s about a 50% chance of getting a few more flowers. Personally, I always cut the spikes all the way down to the base of the stem. It allows the orchid a vegetative growth period to focus all its energy on leaves and roots. Then, with proper care, you’ll get a strong healthy flower spike next year. Either way, if this is a new orchid for you, it would be a good time to repot as they are usually still in their original nursery seedling media.

    I let all my flowers fall on their own. As for the stems or spikes I let the plant decide honestly. I’ve had some that keep the spikes and flowers bloom again from it, most grow new spikes, and then some spikes die. As long as the plant itself is healthy I let it decide.
