I have a happy little orchid but Iām wondering if I should repot and when is the best time to do that. If you look closely at the picture you can see roots are starting to poke through the holes. There are a lot of new roots coming but I donāt see any flower stems. I bought a new orchid pot but that is about twice the size of the current one. Any advice is appreciated!
From what Iāve been told by other users youāre not supposed to repot while itās flowering because Iāll stress it out and itāll wilt a little. When itās done flowering and the flowers are ready to come off is the best time I believe.

Agree with comment above about not repotting while itās growing stems, so as long as itās just roots youāre good to move it, they love air and space, it looks so healthy!!!

Phals have rambunctious roots so I wouldnāt worry too much about repotting just because roots are coming out of the pot. I repot my plants every 2 or 3 years, or when the media behind breaking down. I try to time it so that new roots begin emerging from the base of the plant but not while itās in bloom. You might consider planting your orchid directly in a plastic orchid pot and use your ceramic pot as a cachepot. The plastic orchid pot is typically clear (super helpful keeping an eye on root health) and ventilated (to help with air circulation at the roots).

I have one of mine in the same pot youāre currently using and can say you can leave her there for way longer. Iād say another 2 years at least. Just keep up the good work sheās pretty š

Thanks for posting. I have the same situation with two orchids in the same pots. One in full bloom the other with no flowers or spikes for that matter.

0 gillningar Iām not sure š¤ this bloom was the first time ever Iāve been able to get orchids to blossom. I think Iāll try once more in the pots theyāre in to re-bloom and in the meantime investigate other (maybe bigger) pots for growing š¤·š½āāļø
