I am new to orchids as I always thought they where so hard to care for anyways I have a beautiful white/green one that has flowered lovely but as of the past few days all her flowers have been falling off but her roots are still nice and green is this normal for the plant to do or is their anything I need to change :)

    It’s normal for orchids to eventually drop their blooms. If this is a new plant for you, generally, this is a good time to repot. If you’d like advice on that, come back to the group when you’re ready. Continued to care for it properly, and you will be rewarded with a new flower spike eventually. General guidance: these plants like bright indirect light, not full shade, not full sun. Water only when the roots turn that pretty silvery white color. If they are green, leave them alone. You don’t want the bark or sphagnum moss mixture to stay wet all the time. It can cause the roots to rot.

      Thank you for the advice, I will definitely be giving it a repot , what is the best advice for repotting? :)

    If the flower spike stays green, you can leave it and the orchid may or may not rebloom on it. If the spike starts to dry, you can cut it above a node and it may rebloom or branch there. If it dries the whole way back, you can cut it off. Other than that, avoid getting water in the crown (where all the leaves meet), and never use ice cubes. Your orchid looks very happy, but you should repot just to make sure there aren't any weird packing materials from the store (sometimes they have rubberbands, plastic netting, weird soil mixes, or styrofoam in there)

    Oo so pretty. Id follow all the advice here but they benefit highly from either a humidifier or a bathroom placement with a window or grow light if you are in a dry region.

    I only have one piece of advice and it's this. If I see you putting an ice cube, that orchid will be confiscated!! Orchid roots will die from the cold of the ice, so that's a big no-no.. Other than that, Id say water weekly/every week and a half, and fertilise every month and a half. Happy growing!
