    Not necessarily, but I would take it out of the water. Putting it in a damp bed of moss, where the roots can dry out, but you can keep up some moisture is a safer bet. You wonโ€™t run as big of a risk of completely rotting the rest of the roots and bottom of the stem.

      You have a new leaf trying to grow. Thatโ€™s a good sign. Is the discolored leaf damaged from sunburn? Did you have a pest issue?

    Thereโ€™s still hope, Iโ€™ve had an orchid with no roots left survive. I would remove all rotting and dead roots and let it to air dry for a day or two while lightly misting the leaves once a day. After that, I placed mines in a container with some water on the bottom, but without any part of the plant touching it. All there is left is to wait and cross your fingers
