This is my first Orchid. I have it placed near a bright south-east facing window in a bathroom. How do I know when to water? And any other tips for a first time orchid owner?

    She’s lovely! My favorite tricks are orchid bark/orchid bark mixes, and slotted orchid pots. I can typically find both of these at Lowe’s or Home Depot for a decent price. And I know to water when the roots look silver instead of bright green. If you notice the leaves looking wrinkled and you have it an orchid bark, you might need to soak it for like 5 minutes or so at each watering to make sure bark gets damp enough. Either way you will want to let it drain really well. Mine is not a fan of wet feet.
