At the beginning of the week I was cleaning up underneath the giant monstera in my yard and I found a random orchid, half dead and stuck to a painted ceramic pot. I have 100+ houseplants, but have never owned an orchid, nor is the pot familiar, so I can only assume that she's been there since my ex moved in with me in 2019. I assume he set it there thinking it was dead. Well, that orchid has outlasted the relationship, so now I feel duty bound to care for it. I wet her thoroughly, then removed the roots from the pot as carefully as I could. I gave her a root trim, soaked her in aloe vera juice for a while and repotted her in some bark and moss. Hopefully now she'll thrive rather than just surviving (that DEFINITELY feels like a metaphor for the relationship. 😂🤣)
