    Place it somewhere cold for several weeks and then place it back to it’s original position and it will think it is blooming time again.

    same here— struggling to get mine to grow a spike. it’s been two years and it has not rebloomed

    Patience. If your care is consistent and correct it will put out a new spike when its ready. As others have said, cold helps stimulate, but in my experience they all have a bit of a mind of their own. I had 2 same species, bought together, repotted same time with same medium, placed in the same location. One bloomed yearly, one took 3 years 🤷‍♀️ I also have one at work (that is in colder temp) and its been blooming for 2 years straight.

    How long have you had the plant? Phals typically bloom once a year. A drop in temperature is useful with a reluctant bloomer, but most respond to good culture. I find the primary key to blooms is lighting. Put your plant in bright but indirect light. Direct sun will burn a phal pretty quickly. Too low and you won’t get blooms. I have mine an a west window that is shaded by landscaping. They get absolutely no direct sun. If the edges of the leaves turn reddish you know you are at the max limit of sun for your plant. Strong roots are critical to overall plant health. First part is media in good condition. It breaks down over time. In most cases, you will need to repot every two or three years. If it is a newly acquired plant, it will probably need to be repotted as soon as possible. Second part is watering frequency. Give the roots a chance to dry out but don’t keep them dry for significant periods of time. You want the roots to go silver before giving a drink. The type of media will affect the frequency of watering too. In my experience, fertilizing helps promote more blooms but doesn’t typically stimulate blooming. I use the weakly weekly method (meaning quarter strength each time I water). The type or brand didn’t have a huge effect, but if you are planning on entering shows consider using a MSU formula. Water with pure water once a month to flush away salts (especially important if you are using synthetic). And then there are just some phals that are jerks and refuse to bloom. Yeah, I’m looking at you Golden Princess. Good luck!
