I believe I slightly overwatered an orchid, but Iām not completely sure. I really thought that Iād let it dry out enough but I guess not š¢ One of the leaves has yellowed and Iām not really sure what to do about that. I know how to prune a lot of plants but orchids have just always confused me when it comes to that. How and can you prune orchid leaves? Any advice? Thank you!
Yesā you can prune an orchid leaf by cutting it as close to the base of the leaf as possible. I would go ahead and trim the yellowed leaf! If the roots have rotted at all, trim any that have turned black or mushy. It should be able to make a comeback š

Just a note to help. I absolutely murderer my orchids roots from over watering them. The roots were whiteish and empty and just really, really bad. I cut almost 95% off and repotted it in just Orchid bark ~6 months ago (it is one year old and had lost all it's flowers and leaves) and it's coming back!!! Stick with it and talk to her. It helps.
Oh and when you water her or mist her, don't forget to only use distilled or rain water.

0 gillningarDo you think you over watered based solely on one leaf yellowing? Is it a lower leaf? Itās not unusual for older leaves to eventually yellow and fall. Can you see the roots? Can you post a picture, it might be easier to give you advice with a better idea of what is going on.
1 gilla Yes it was a lower leaf. There is an upper leaf thatās slightly yellowed so I do believe I overwatered it a tiny bit. But I honestly donāt think thereās anything wrong with the roots, from what Iāve seen they are healthy. The pot isnāt see through so I had to remove the plant to get a better look, and I stupidly didnāt take a picture to add here š but thank you for the concern ā¤ļø
0 gillningarRoot rot and then dehydration, and then loss of leaves will occur from over watering. But, if your roots are fine, then the leaves arenāt yellowing from over watering. Unless you left water in the crown or in the leaf joints, water wouldnāt be the cause of this.
