I have had a small orchid for a while, and it's extremely healthy with great leaves and I've tried everything, but anytime a flower stalk shows up it dies. How can I get it to fully bloom?

    Get it out of the pot and check the roots, if any of the roots feel squishy or too dry cut them out . Make sure to cut with clean scissors, then repot it. Orchids like bright indirect light with lots of humidity and fertilise once a month.

    Medium bright. It's In a sunny window, but it's not super direct all the time

    If the rest of the plant is healthy, I'd try upping the light if you can.

    How often are you getting a new flower spike? When does it die off, before or after it develops buds? And when you say dies off, what happens? It just stops growing or it turns brown and dries out completely? What do you do with the spikes once this happens?

    Every couple months it usually gets to about 9 inches, and then the end turns brown and it crumples back down. Usually it's just an elongated raisin and it falls off on its own. Sometimes it gets closer to a flower than others.

      Can you post a photo? I feel like there wouldn’t be enough viable space between the leaves of most phalaenopsis to put out that many flower spikes.

      If you are thinking these are all dried flower spikes, they aren’t- they look to be dried roots to me. I would guess you need a good repot.

    Yes I know. That is the most recent, the rest have been cut off.

      Huh. Spikes will come out of the stem of the orchid in the area between the leaves on either side of the plant. Only in the spaces 2-3 leaves down from the crown. There isn’t that much space on this plant for that many spikes unless it grows more leaves from the crown. I would try a repot since the roots are looking like they could use some tlc. If you can induce a spike, and the plant has good media, water, fertilizer and light, it shouldn’t just wither off for you. Any chance you have it near a heater or air vent that could be causing the buds to blast?
