Sorry I’m an orchid newbie- does this look okay?
Don’t ever apologize for wanting to know more about a new subject! We were all newbies once! I’m not certain what you are asking about, specifically, in this photo, but I’ll address the things that look concerning and potentially problematic to me. The roots are looking extremely dry and shriveled. But these are just the ones on the top of the medium, and I would guess the ones in the pot are probably doing ok, since it doesn’t *look* like your leaves are getting flimsy and dehydrated, but it’s kind of hard to tell from this shot. I do see that bottom right leaf has some discoloration and the beginnings of some wrinkles. It’s not unusual for older leaves to do this, and dirt of wither away. I would advise to let it fall away on it’s own, but because there is some yellowing of that leaf on the actual stem of the plant, I would remove it to make sure that there is nothing going on there. One leaf dropping is nbd, but an infection on the stem of your phalaenopsis is a much more serious situation. You can also try to gently pull away the very dry old remains of past leaves as well, to make sure there’s no stem rot going on, and also to make it a little easier for those new tender root tips to break through. Feel free to share more pics if you think it might be helpful to see the health of the rest of the plant.
2 Mi piaceYeah, the leaves look to be in decent shape, doesn’t look too dehydrated, maybe a liiiiiiittle limp, but nothing I’d be too concerned about, particularly with those long flower spikes, they can sap a lot of energy from the plant.
