   As I said in your previous post, it looks like you have full stem rot. Whether the infection came up from the dead roots, or if it was caused from leaving water in the crown or leaf joints, there’s really no hope for it now. For your next orchid- I would recommend repotting from the original nursery plug and basket shown in the picture, into a clear plastic, well ventilated, orchid specific pot, and fresh bark/sphagnum moss mix. Bright light but not direct sun, and water only when the roots go from green to a pretty silvery color. Sorry about your plant.

   Agreed. That little plastic cage is the bane of so many of us. It works great for the nurseries but difficult for home growers to deal with.
