Hello everyone! Was hoping someone could help me identify what type of orchid I have. My bf bought me her 3 years ago for Mother’s Day and I just cannot remember the type she is. When I look up the different types there’s like 2 or 3 I think she might be and can never figure out which one she is. Please help!!!

Blood spatter orchid. Phalaenopsis Yu Pin Pearl. There are about 60 species that look similar. They all look like a crime scene. 😆

THANK YOU!! I’ve had them for years, but just really started getting into them and wanting to learn more about them. I get them every year for Mother’s Day 🤍 They have become my favorite flower. But the names and how many there are and subcategories and everything are going to take me a bit to learn for sure😂

There are so many varieties that are similar to this- there are hundreds of novelty hybrids. If it came from a nursery, you might have a good chance of tracking it down, but if it’s a grocery store or big box store, it’s basically a ‘No ID’ phalaenopsis. It’ll be difficult to find its exact name. What state or country did he buy it- that can narrow it down too.

We were living out in Ohio when he got it for me, only like 30 minutes away from Pennsylvania. I’m pretty sure he got it from Home Depot.

You have a very hybridized No ID phal. Looking up any of the examples above and their immediate crosses would give you a better idea of what orchids are in its parentage, but it should take very standard phalaenopsis care. She’s a lovely orchid, good luck with her!
