I am in the journey of reviving my orchid, which I purchased at thd last year. It originally came on soil and after the flowers died it started decaying with them. I cleaned it, cut the rotten roots and put it on water for a couple of months. Finally I cut off remaining rotten roots and recently repotted it here with orchid bark. I am hoping to heal it back to peak health but I am doing it blindly. Any advice?
I would get an orchid pot, all the holes let you see how silver the roots are; which makes it easier to tell when it needs watering. I have also found that mine really loves the east facing window. I live in the north eastern USA; and this location provides just the right amount of light.

좋아요 1개 They are pretty cool looking, I honestly didn’t even realize they were a plant pot at first! I’ve also found that if you are using straight bark with no moss, soaking the pot for about 7 minutes is the best way to ensure it gets fully hydrated. 🪴

I’ve never had to do this, but Orchid Girl has a good video on it and I’ve seen people do it so it’s definitely a doable thing! Good luck!
좋아요 1개In the future, don't keep it in water. Most orchids are epiphytes (they cling to trees in the wild), so they like to dry between waterings. If the soil is too dense or if you submerge the roots long term, they suffocate. Yours does seem to be recovering, but it needs a bit more light
