Just noticed my orchids one leaf is very yellow with some wilting flowers? Planta said it might need more light. The top feels almost soggy while the bottom of the pot seems much dryer from what I can tell trying to stick my fingers in it…… is she dying? Help Please!

How long has your orchid been in bloom? The flowers typically last +/-3 months. What kind of media is it in? From the photo, it looks like an orchid mix from a box store (bark, perlite and peat). If that’s the case, the media could be holding onto too much water. When was the last time you watered?

I’ve had her since early May so maybe too soon to be wilting naturally? Yes, just in a bagged orchid mix currently. Also of note, I repotted her about 8 days ago. Last watered 4 days ago……

It isn’t uncommon for phals to drop blooms after repotting. When did the flowers begin fading? The yellowing leaf may be due to the repot. When did it start yellowing? What kind of media was it in previously? I personally don’t like the orchid mix you find at box stores. I find they hold too much moisture. My phals are in all bark or bark/sphagnum.

It may not be too early to lose the flowers as part of its natural cycle. Was it in bloom when you got it? You’d have no idea how long it had already been in bloom when you brought it home.
