anyone else jus growing their orchids in straight water? mine have been in water for 6 months and haven’t stopped putting on blooms! is this normal?

      It’s not healthy long-term… You can force blooms with this method, but it’s because the plants ‘thinks’ it’s going to die so it blooms A LOT in order to reproduce before death. Most flowering plants behave this way for survival.

    It’s not nice to brag 🤣🤣 my touch is instant orchid dearth so I’m just gonna look on from waaaaaaaaaay over her 🤪

    There are groups that deal in water culture for orchids, and it can work for some people in some environments. But I would do a little research to make sure that you are not endangering your orchid. These are epiphytic plants that in nature generally grow on trees. Their roots need air as much as they need water. So it’s extremely important that they don’t just stay in water all of the time. They will rot and you are likely to lose the plant. As far as the blooms lasting a long time, some Phalaenopsis hybrids just do that. It really has very little to do with whether they are in water or moss or bark or grown bare rooted. They have just been crossbred for long lasting blooms.
