I rescued this beauty from the Lowe’s clearance shelf last fall and her buds finally blossomed this week! Ain’t she a beaut? Her name was Judy, but think I need to change it now to Judy Blume 😊 I’m new to houseplants in general (I didn’t inherit my mothers green thumb, planta has really helped me) so I’m super proud I was able to save her- orchids are my favorite of all my plants
She IS a beaut! I love that red lip! When Ms. Blume is finished blooming, you may want to repot her, since it looks like she may still be in her old Lowe’s pot and media. That can be very old, since it usually includes a foamy plug from the nursery the orchids are grown in. If it’s blooming like this for you after being saved and in old media, I bet the bloom show would be EXTRAORDINARY in the years to come with optimum care. That’s a resilient and vigorous hybrid you’ve got there.
