Hello everyone! Im new to this app and have an orchid i named Örchi. Anyways my boyfriend bought me these and i recently repotted them in a pot that has no drain holes but the way the plants came in was ina plastic kind of mold that i can jus remove from the pot to water. I dont know if thats harmful to do. The flowers are kind of withering. When i repotted I did a root clean up as some roots were brown and dry already and repotted in orchid mix. Help mee!
Flowers have gone in shock from Replanting. Always best to do once the blooms have fallen off. Also would recommend you put them in an orchid pot that has opening all around it. You can get them from Amanzon as the roots love to have air flow. Have been growing them for years and never had an issue.

In their natural habitats, orchids are often epiphytes, meaning they grow on other plants like trees, not in the soil. They rely on moisture and nutrients from the air, and the roots are exposed to the air to absorb these resources. To mimic these natural conditions, orchids grown indoors should be given good air circulation and well-draining potting media to prevent problems such as rot. Also, I would remove the moss as it could retain too much moisture depending on you watering routine.

0개 좋아요 Orchid roots you want to let dry out. If they are soft and mushy or crinkly and crunchy they are bad and snip them off. I never go by color bc potting medium can stain brown/black, new growth is typically white and turns yellow as it matures until green. Silver orchid roots are healthy! Especially the aerial roots (the shorter ones closer to the leaves) you want to let its aerial roots be above your medium. Let them dry out some/mostly between watering. Also a tip is to be mindful of your water. Tap is typically not good for plants. Some don’t mind it but orchids can be funny about it. I always just used a good non alkaline bottle of water until recently potassium and iron (in small amounts) added to the water can help push/encourage growth
