My one and only! She seems happy since her flowers faded in August. New huge leaf plus more emerging and new growth on stem. But the roots are dark?! Any advice?

Nice! Your plant looks happy and hydrated. It says a lot that it is trying to bloom again. You might consider cutting the inactive inflorescence back to the base of the plant. Flower uses a significant amount of resources and secondary bloom cycles can result in less showy flowering in the next year. The dark roots looked burned to me. How often do you fertilize and at what strength? A good rule of thumb is weakly weekly. Or in clearer speak use fertilizer at 1/4 strength every time you water. And then once a month flush with pure water to wash away any accumulated salts, which can burn the roots. You also have some dead roots (the tan wrinkled ones). Those are perfectly normal, especially on a newly acquired plant. The media looks a little old to me. When was the last time it was repotted? Typically when you get a plant, they are in sphagnum that is tightly packed. That’s not a great setup for the home grower. Or with those in bark, the media is beginning to break down. Generally, you’ll need to repot every 2-3 years or when the media is broken down. The goal is a FREELY draining media that allows the roots to grab a little water and then dry out quickly. I would consider repotting it but wait until the new blooms are done. Otherwise they will most likely drop. Orchid have a bad rap but really aren’t too divaish once you figure it out. Good luck!

Great advice thank you! I am so excited to see how she’s thriving for me! She does have green roots inside the pot btw. Don’t know if I should remove the top black ones or leave. I have a new pot but when I saw her trying to bloom and decided to wait to repot. I have not fertilized yet but she does have full sun from south sheer curtained window for several hours. Is this too much light?

I would leave the burned roots alone as long as they are firm. They may be in better shape deeper in the pot. I think you’re okay light wise. I don’t see any scorching on the leaves. You’ll know if they are getting almost too much light if you start seeing purple areas on the leaves. If you don’t know what I mean, you can see an example of what I am talking about in this photo.
