The flower stalks die off after it’s done flowering. It’s completely normal and healthy. You can just cut the flower stem off close to the leaves if you want.

The stem is no longer green and has turned yellow too. This is normal as well?

Yes. Orchids don’t keep the stem alive after it flowers. When not flowering, it should just be the leaves that are there and green. This is one of mine right now that has flowered multiple times. That is just a stake to help support the stem when it flowers.

Sorry , so you are saying to cut the stem that’s yellow back to the long green stem?

Unless it still has flowers on it. Then you should wait.

Cut the entire flower spike all the way down to the leaves of the orchid. It will grow another spike as long as you are giving the plant appropriate light water and fertilizer.

I had one that stayed green so I didn’t cut it and it sent off another side shoot! It’s just flowered again - just one but worth it - so beautifull
