That’s just a root. I potted mine in a pot with holes so the roots have room to breathe. I also used a mixture of regular potting soil and charcoal. Also, if the flowers die eventually, you didn’t do anything wrong, they just have a cycle of falling off. Good luck, and happy planting! 💕✨☺️

I noticed your orchid is in water and bark, are you soaking it? You can grow orchids in just water aswell
0 LikesI had just watered it and noticed the new roots so snapped a picture right away. Good tip - I didn’t know I could repot in just water.

Ok, be sure to never let it sit in water when it's in bark though. Let it soak for 30-60 minutes then drain it and put it back in its decorative pot. Regarding growing them in water you can but I've never done it myself as I try to stick to the plants natural environment as much as I can, anyway, the roots never look healthy when they are grown in water but the plant themselves look fine so it's up to you.
0 LikesIf this is a new plant, usually a repot is a good idea when it’s done blooming. I mention it only because you have all these new roots coming out- it would be a good time to get it acclimated to a new set up. If you are interested in more repotting info, this group is a great resource.
