Hi everyone! Any advice on what to do with this orchid? I was gifted this on mid-September and all was well: I was waiting for flower drops (eventually) before reporting into clear vase and orchid medium, avoided overwatering/watering frequently as well (I think that’s what killed my older orchids)… last watering and leave misting was 6 days ago, then left for vacation over the weekend and came back to this yellow leaves, limpy/soft flowers, and one of the flowers had dropped. Panta scheduled misting for today (I made sure to list the leaves only) and next watering scheduled 5 days from now, I wouldn’t think this is under watering…. Or is it? Any advice? I’d like to keep this orchid alive and get it healthy for its next bloom! Appreciate this community and your feedback!

Oh boy- first, don’t mist the leaves, ever. Not necessary. Any water left sitting on the crown or leaf joints is potential for crown and stem rot. Normally, a lower leaf yellowing is not a big deal, it may just be an older one falling away, but I can tell from your photos, these are mid leaves, and it looks like you have discoloration climbing up into a third one. I would bet you have some stem rot going on. It’s a little hard to tell from the photos, but are the green leaves wrinkled at all like the yellow ones? I know you probably would have wanted a longer time with the blooms, but I would repot your plant now, and see what’s going on under that mound of moss. If you have any mushy rotten roots, cut them away. Planta is good for a lot of things, but I don’t feel like their orchid care advice is very reliable. Do not water according to their schedule. They do not know what your environment is like, how long your pot retains water, how humid it is where you live. Don’t water every so many days. Water your orchid. Wait until the medium dries out and your roots look that pretty silver color. Then water again. Some times of the year that may be 8 days. Some seasons 3 days. But phalaenopsis orchid roots need air as much as they need water.

Please keep us posted, I hope it’s something you can fix in time, before the stem dies off completely.

Thank you so much @jen! Your response sounds spot on! I will get everything I need to repot over the weekend and will definitely keep you posted! 🫶
